The International School of Helsinki (ISH) is recognised in Finland as a "Foreign Language Private School". It is owned by a registered non-profit Association whose members are mainly the parents/guardians of the enrolled students. To act as the schools top policy making body this Association elects a Board of Governors whose nine members serve renewable two-year terms.
The Board appoints a Headmaster to manage ISH. The headmaster is assisted in his management tasks by the Principals of the Lower and Upper Schools, and there is also a structure of curriculum leaders and administrative staff in place, such as the MYP Coordinator and Dean of Students.
The ISH Administration positions consist of the following: Headmaster, Lower School Principal, Upper School Principal, Business Manager, Accounts Manager, Office Manager, Admissions Officer and Upper School Secretary.
