Principals' Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school that promotes honesty, cooperation and respect.
  • Programs classes within established guides to meet student needs.
  • Supervises the pupil personnel service program to enhance individual student education and development.
  • Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities under supervision of the Headmaster.
  • To interpret Board of Governors policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems as requested by the Headmaster.
  • Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate or as requested by the Headmaster.
  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, training, hiring, and assigning of school staff.
  • Implements and supervises the school’s special needs program under supervision of the Headmaster
  • Under the supervision of the Headmaster supports, evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance.
  • Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, parent communication, and all other paper as required by the Headmaster.
  • Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds under supervision of the Headmaster.
  • Attends special events held to recognize achievement, and attends school sponsored activities, functions and athletic events as requested by the Headmaster.
  • Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new  programs, and the like.
  • Keeps the Headmaster informed of the school’s activities and problems.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and development in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Assists in the formulation of curriculum and other objectives for the school program under supervision of the Headmaster.
  • Develops methods for evaluating student progress toward stated educational objectives under supervision of the Headmaster.
  • Meets and confers with parents as necessary.
  • Coordinates student and teacher schedules to promote educational objectives and minimize conflict.
  • Attends all Board of Governors’ meetings/sub committee meetings and assists the Headmaster when necessary.
  • Monitors and encourages all personnel to establish an aesthetically pleasing environment in the school.
