IB Programmes

ISH is the only school in the Helsinki area to be fully accredited to offer all three IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students in grades K-5, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in grades 6-10, and the Diploma Programme for students in grades 11-12.

We also have a Pre-Kindergarten program for 3 years olds. You can read more about the Early Years learning at ISH from here.

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed to actively engage students in developmentally appropriate learning activities and to encourage and stimulate development of concepts and skills. An integrated, cross-curricular approach to learning is used.

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to make connections between traditional subjects and the real world. It helps them to become critical and reflective thinkers.

The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education. The programme is taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities. Those students graduating with the IB diploma will also receive an ISH diploma.

All ISH students in grades 11 and 12 are given the opportunity to begin the Diploma Programme. However, students unable to meet the demands of the programme can opt to obtain credits for an ISH diploma or an ISH diploma and acquiring IB certificates in individual subjects.
